可生物降解塑料有何不同

Biodegradable plastics break down naturally through microbial action, unlike conventional plastics that persist for centuries.
Common types include polylactic acid (PLA), made from fermented corn starch or sugarcane.
They require specific conditions—heat, moisture, and oxygen—to decompose fully within weeks or months.
Industrial composting facilities provide those ideal settings, but backyard piles rarely do.
If mixed with recycling streams, bioplastics contaminate PET and HDPE batches, lowering material value.
Some newer versions degrade in soil or seawater, though speed and byproducts vary widely by formulation.
Standards like ASTM D6400 help verify claims, but consumers should check local disposal guidelines carefully.
Life-cycle analysis shows they reduce fossil fuel use but may increase land and water demand for crops.
Researchers are now engineering microbes that digest plastic waste directly in natural environments.
True sustainability means matching the right material to the right end-of-life infrastructure.
