Lin Hao is eleven years old and he lives near his school. On Monday he wakes up at six thirty, when the sky is still a little dark. He washes his face, puts on his school clothes, and packs his bag by himself. There is a lot to do, but he does not want to be late.
In the kitchen Mum is making porridge. "Did you check your homework?" she asks. Lin Hao opens his bag and shows her the notebook. "It's all here," he says, and he eats quickly because the school bus comes at seven ten.
Dad puts an apple in his pocket and says, "Have a good day." When Lin Hao gets on the bus, he finds a seat by the window. He looks at the busy streets and thinks about English class in the afternoon. "I can try," he tells himself. A new week is starting, and he wants to be ready.
